OLISO is a small design firm focused on delivering inventive solutions to “change your home and lifestyle.” As the sole industrial designer at the time, Sara worked with engineering, marketing, and operations to launch tabletop appliances and accessories.
SMART IRONS
Sara updated the first generation Oliso Smart Iron to better highlight its lifter technology, customized soleplate designs for differentiation, and updated colors, graphics, and iconography fill out the product family.
FRISPER FRESHKEEPER
Oliso’s countertop vacuum sealer uses reusable/ resealable bags and makes sealing food easy.
Seal a bag of coffee, open it to brew a pot, and then re-vacuum seal, as many times as you want. Or bag leftovers, store, and re-heat later. Or prep a dish, seal it in a bag, and pop the whole thing in boiling water later for a quick, easy meal. Attachments also seal mason jars and bottles.
FLAT CHAIR PROJECT
What started as an assignment in art school, the Flat Chair project “grew legs” and became a fun exploration into flat-pack furniture design.
“Inside out design” is a phrase coined by designer Jim Shook to refer to designs that showcase the “guts” of a product, celebrating internal mechanisms and structures instead of than hiding them.
Sara chose to “inside out” a chair after the experience of building a couch, carefully hiding all signs of support under layers of foam and upholstery. That process required unnecessary material and labor, and Sara wanted this chair to be the opposite. To further reduce its carbon footprint, Flat Chair can ship with minimal volume.

FIRST AID WITH A FACE
Adhesive bandages aren’t typical housewares, but details matter even for inexpensive consumables.
To kids, bandages are a medical panacea and a badge of honor, rolled up in one.
These bandages are even more. They are fun characters with die cut features that “pop up” when the bandage is applied. Pop-up features even make them easier to remove when healing is done.
